Daily Routine at The Spanish Nursery
Our routine is adaptable and flexible for all age groups and takes into account individual care routines. There are set times for activities to give the children structure, nap times to allow children to rest and relax, dedicated reading time every day, to support children develop a love for books and stories and daily outdoor play. Children can access the toilet facilities at all times and staff are available to accompany them whenever they need to. The Caterpillars/Las Orugas tend to sleep/rest more than once a day whilst The Butterflies/Las Mariposas have one rest period between 1pm and 2pm every day. The below routine is used as a general guide and daily structure. Children from both rooms will spend time together in joined activities.
8:00 – 9:30 Free play activities which have been set up in advance to encourage symbolic play, fine and gross motor skills play, stories, etc. This session may include garden play. The children are encouraged to bring one fruit a day to the nursery to be shared
9:30 – 10:00 Various activities (sand, water, painting, kitchen, cut papers, counting, nursery rhymes, songs, story time) and toilet time, preparing for sharing the fruit
10:00 – 10:30 Circle time (using the pictures, calendar, feelings games, etc); sharing the fruit together
10:30 – 11:45 Scheduled activities: the children have access to both adult structured activities and free choice activities following the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ curriculum. This session may include group activities and garden play, caring for the plants, watering, slides, balls, swings, bicycles, cars, trampoline, climbing, activities with numbers, letters, sounds and songs, etc.
11:45 – 12:00 Washing hands, getting ready for lunch
12:00 - 12:45 Lunch time. A healthy home-made meal prepared on site is available for the children. The menu is displayed in the kitchen area and parents are encouraged to contribute to it.
12:45—13:00 Toilet time and brushing of the teeth, getting ready for rest time
13:00 – 14:00 Sleep/quiet rest period.
14:00 – 14:15 Wake up time
14:15 – 15:00 Story time. This is a circle group time whereby the children come together, they choose favourite books, and share stories and reading in a comfortable home corner area
15:00—15:30 Merienda/Tea time. A healthy home-made cold snack is available for the children.
15:30 – 16:50 Scheduled activities. The children have access to both adult structured activities following the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ curriculum. This session may include garden play, balls, swings, bicycles, cars, trampoline, climbing, activities with numbers, letters, sounds and songs, videos and dance. The activities encouraging social learning, role play, matching and sorting, music and winding down for the end of the day.
17:00—17:15 Fruit snack
17:15 – 17:30 Tidy up time. Children are encouraged to learn age appropriate skills in this area.
17:30 – 17:50 Home Time
